The release of this statement came in response to figures that showed a large number of those users had left the social service due to changes to its terms and conditions.
Figures were released for the first time by the social sharing website and application due to previously released third-party figures stating that Instagram only got 7.81 million unique users per day.The new figures released by the site also showed that around 40 million pictures are uploaded every day with 8500 likes and 1000 comments every second.
Kevin Systrom, the founder of the social platform, said that: "Instagram continues to see very strong growth around the world.”
"With many of the product and internationalization improvements we've made, we've been excited to see these efforts resonate with users globally."
Because this is the first time that Instagram has announced figures concerning their membership, it’s unknown whether this figure has actually dropped since the changing of their terms and conditions.
